Speak To The Rock During my recent wanderings in the desert listening to Father, I heard the Spirit of the Lord whisper to me. He said, “Speak to the Rock”. It seems I have spent a lot of time in the wilderness lately and at times even began to wonder if I was doing something wrong. It wasn’t that I had lost my peace. Actually I seemed to find that abundant Peace was a by-product of my wandering. Still I had spoken to the Lord telling him of my desire to be filled of Him to a greater capacity. It seemed the more I asked, the drier I felt. I yearned for the pouring forth of His Spirit as never before. Each time I would cry out to my Father, I would hear the same thing, “Speak to the Rock.” I studied the scriptures and couldn’t understand exactly what He was telling me to do. Finally after meditating on the statement I heard a final time, “Speak to the Rock! Ask me to bring forth the Rivers of Life out of the Rock.” So I spoke openly to the Lord obeying His command. I knew He was walking beside me, so I felt no betrayal or doubt. Only that I desired more than what I had. As I sojourned alone with my Lord, I would occasionally find others who were on their own quest for the depth of God. Marching to the sound of the approaching drums. Not by the dictates of men, but the commandments of the Lord. Waiting, yet not quite knowing of what was to come. I know this speaks to many in the Body right now. There is a dearth in the land. A thirst for the fullness of the Lord but also dryness in the Spirit as never before. So many whom I meet are crying from the depth of their soul for the Lord. It doesn’t seem to matter how long they have walked with Jesus. The parched land is the same. What I have found is there has been two directions these precious saints have gone. One is find the peace and comfort of the secret place. The other is to fall into the trap of the enemy. Overtaken by the lies in our mind. There is a way to freedom of the Spirit. It involves recognizing the authority that we have in Christ. As we surrender to His perfect will the Spirit of the Lord brings change A few days ago I was in prayer and the Lord uttered this command for His Great and Mighty Army. He said, “We must speak to the Rock.” His people are walking far below the authority which has been already delegated to them. Many things have stood in the way of realizing what we have already been given. Fear and insecurities are being overcome to bring us past this point. Bondage to the letter of the word is being abandoned to bring forth the Spirit of the Word., The Greater works are about to take place but we must now operate in the dunamus power Jesus had already given to us. We are to look at the life of Jesus and our own lives. Learn where we have already received invested authority. What we have endured and overcome gives us a unique power and authority over that particular enemy. This power and authority can then be used to help bring freedom to other believers. This It is not about the personal amount of time which has been spent nor the works that have been done. We must decrease and allow the Spirit of the Lord to increase within us. Many of us have not risen to the authority that has been ordained because we are trying to accomplish it in the natural. We must stop looking at each other and look to the Rock. Calling out the living waters to feed our dry and barren lands. As Moses when he was told by God to speak to the Rock. We are to do the same. Not smiting the Rock to bring forth the Living water. But speaking to the Rock using the authority of God. This is not to bring attention to any individual but to Glorify the Lord. Num 20:8 “Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.” It is important to recognize we are to not do it like we did in the pas. God may have had us “smite” things, but now His command is to use the spiritual authority. Notice this is to bring forth the Water for the congregation. Moses committed a grave error in not following the Lords command. He had grown weary in well doing. We must not faint but allow the Lord to be glorified at this time. Notice how Moses followed through on the command of God: Num 20:10 “ And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? Num 20:11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.” He brought the congregation together before the Rock. Moses did not take of the water and give it to Gods people. Instead he called them rebels and judged them. Not wanting to serve them any longer. I can imagine how he felt about their ingratitude in all he had done to this point. But look where he lost it. The congregation still received water but Moses failed to inherit the promise land because of his disobedience. Many who serve in the body are at a dangerous point. As Moses they have been faithful for years. Giving until they have not more to give. Pastors, their wives, and all levels of the body are close to fainting. Many are tired of pretending to live in perfection. The burden is too great to bear. The Father is calling out to His Body. Beware lest you receive not the promise. Do not be weary in well doing. For the time is short. Do not commit the same error and loose out on coming into the peace and rest of the promise land. Num 20:11 “And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.” Notice the congregation still received the water. But Moses did not come into the Promise land. It is time to look at our fruit. Is it bearing the power and love of the Spirit or of the flesh. Allow the Lord to do a heart check. Searching you for all that is displeasing to the Father. Don’t loose out on the promise of His rest. Outwardly the Lord will bless the works of our hands if it deals with His children. Just because others are receiving of His Water through your hands does not mean that your heart is right before God. This is the time for His Righteousness to come forth.
I pray we all may grow as the Body and Bride of Christ. Reaching the perfection of the Father. Maturing in His love, growing in the faith to receive His fullness. In HIS Service, Teresa M. Daly-Crews
